I had seen such reports from the very beginning and finally mine started too after the summer heat. The symptom is obvious: touch no longer work. Sometimes it comes back to normal after a reboot. When this happens, you see yellow marks about your tablet and i2c:
A quick fix is to press down the upper right corner area, then disable and enable the i2c. A long term fix is to open the back door with a guitar pick (don't cut into the seam at the bottom!!!), unplug the cables, replug them and attach a piece of foam with double-side tape:

After installing Windows 10 (Preview Build 9879) on my Miix 2 8'' there have no touch failures and it seems to run much smoother. With Windows 8.1 my Miix 2 experienced failures sometimes multiple times in one day. I would suggest anyone with the touch issue try this method to Install Windows 10 via USB before opening up your Miix.
ReplyDeleteWhich version did you install?
Delete32 or 64 bits?
This does not work for Miix 2 10...
ReplyDeleteDear Sean, your solution works, thank you very much
ReplyDeleteGreat! It works Perfectly. Really Thanks.
ReplyDeleteYou saved my life! After touchscreen problems (and also Windows capacitive button problems!) on my Miix 2 8", i made like on your video and the problem completely disappeared!
ReplyDeleteDear sean, i open the miix 2 tablet, and done the thing, and the prob solved, no more unresponsive touch screen, thank you very much.
ReplyDeleteSean, you are genius. How could you find that! Thanks,
ReplyDeleteHi, do I need to disconnect the battery first in case it gets short circulated?
ReplyDeleteThat's always a good practice, but I didn't, only turned off the tablet.
DeleteSeems to have worked for me too. Thanks!
ReplyDeletestill having the issue. tried the "foam" solution and it worked for a while. tried uninstalling drivers - didn't work.
ReplyDeleteit sometimes freeze on me while still working and usually pressing here and there in the top-right can work, but sometimes not, in which case i turn it off and leave it (sometimes it seems to work ok on the next boot).
funny thing is, every-time i give up and wanted to send back, it just starts ok again.
will try win 10 later. any issues so far with official win 10?
Try a tougher foam, such as those for winter window seal.
DeleteI have no interest in Windows 10.
Putting foam across the connectors worked for me too - great tip, thanks
